About Will Martyr

Will Martyr’s meticulous compositions act as a kind of visual therapy for a digital age. Martyr’s work is transportive, it takes us to a semi-digitised world where the sharp lines of modernist architecture court the jagged shadows of snowy mountains. Inherently static scenes are made dynamic by structural elements, leading the eye to all corners of Martyr's ethereal plane.
Martyr's work is exceptional in its precision and attention to detail. He utilises a mixture of his own photography and found imagery to construct elegantly complex compositions. These images are edited digitally and then drawn onto the canvas. Each feature is masked off using tape and individual colours are mixed and then painted in multiple layers onto the surface. This painstaking process results in truly immaculate work.

Caring for your Print

Here are a few tips on how to best take care of your new print!

All our prints are carefully wrapped and delivered to you in packing tubes for safe transport. Once you receive your print, remove it from the tube at your earliest convenience and store the piece flat. This can be flat packed between some cardboard or plywood, or weighted down on the four corners, preferably with soft objects. Try to avoid leaving your new print rolled for too long!

When framing the work, we always opt for a frame with Art Glass. This may be a little more expensive at first, but it's worth it - Art Glass will keep your print in pristine condition across the years and will ensure the colours always stay true.

Try to place your work in an environment with a normal temperature. Extreme temperature or humidity can have an adverse effect on your beautiful print, so be sure to keep it protected! We always recommend framing the work behind glass as a great way to keep it protected from any adverse environmental conditions.
